Pleated Stent
ESI continues to develop, test, and refine our high-surface density pleated stent as a complimentary product to the ESI O-cluder.
The design of the pleated stent enables the efficient treatment of wide-necked and fusiform aneurysms that coils, or the ESI O-cluder, cannot treat.
Multiple inflations of a short elastic balloon allow expansion of the pleated stent into a non-cylindrical shape that easily conforms to the arterial wall, occludes the aneurysm, generates a thrombus, and starts the healing process.
Currently, we are evaluating several pleated stent thicknesses. By creating a smaller pleating mandrel, we can produce deeper pleats that allow for tighter crimping and a smaller crossing profile.
